YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Founder Joel Silver remains CEO of the ISF and, from efforts to limit travel, has appointed in-person instruction to be conducted by AVPro/Murideo alum and now chief technical evangelist for madVR, Jason Dustal, a calibrator starting in 2008 and an ISF instructor since 2012. Assisting Jason is Michael Hamilton, a calibrator since 1995, ISF instructor beginning in 2005, Sound&Vision magazine video reviewer, and most recently, spending several years calibrating in Hollywood studios and post-production facilities. In their combined careers, the two have calibrated more than 15,000 displays. |

WHAT IS DIFFERENT FOR 2025?
New for 2025, the ISF has a permanent USA headquarters adjacent to Tampa Bay, inside the AVPro Technical Support complex in downtown St. Peterburg, FL. This new home for the ISF provides attendees with access to an expansive cross-section of current products and technologies integrators routinely sell and install, something previously impossible when the seminar series traveled from city to city.
The facility is designed for intensive hands-on training, with nearly every piece of equipment outfitted for portability to configure likely combinations calibrators will encounter. Featured are unique tools designed not only to demonstrate, develop, and challenge calibration skills but also to illustrate to consultants, specifiers, purchasing managers, integration principals, and even knowledgeable top-tier sales personnel how product synergism affects the final result and why calibration is critical for delivering anticipated display performance and system fidelity as a whole.
The benchmark in video calibration for more than 30 years, the ISF video calibration training course is now Dolby Laboratories Certified. Dolby has had a profound impact on every aspect of the entertainment industry, and the company’s innovations have transformed how each of us experiences movies, television, music, and other forms of media. ISF video calibration ensures the efforts made in content creation are preserved at playback.
The traditional three-day seminar format has been modified: Level 1, formerly in-person and comprising the first of the three in-person days, is now offered online and taken at a personal pace. Passing its test is required to proceed into the new two-day, in-person, primarily hands-on portion, which is intended to streamline the traditional format and lessen expenses by one day. Pricing for the course has also been reduced to $999, including the online portion, and continues to deliver comprehensive calibration instruction for the most affordable price in ISF history.

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE TO ATTENDEES?
Video Lab gear is comprised of 12 top models of long- and ultra-short-throw projectors from Barco, BenQ, Epson, Hisense, JVC, and Sony that can be paired with screens from Elite, Elite Prime Vision, and Stewart Filmscreen. Stewart has custom-manufactured two unique, multi-material screens to ISF specifications, each enabling a single projector to illustrate the variability in image response each of the three materials has upon a calibrated projector mode. Stewart has also crafted two acoustically transparent screens, one with woven material and the other with perforated vinyl, that create a 2.40:1 aspect ratio when combined side-by-side and provide comparison for the two most common AT surfaces using a single calibrated projector mode. All current flat panel technologies are represented, including a flagship BenQ computer gaming monitor that shares image fidelity with its best professional monitors, a sample of Sony’s CLED crystal LED video, and the Hollywood-reference Sony BVM-HX3110 Mastering monitor, which serves as the lab’s ultimate arbiter for video fidelity.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
- Residential A/V Integrators seeking to provide the ultimate in professional client services standing out among their competition, backed by a proven recurring revenue stream.
- Commercial A/V Integrators who install video walls and multiple displays visible from common vantage points.
- Independent calibrators with limited product exposure seeking to refine their skill with the aid of experienced calibrators in real-world scenarios.
- Independent colorists seeking to learn maintenance support for “Hero” and “Client” monitors in their personal rigs.
- Independent photographers and videographers seeking to ensure the video displays in their playback chain provide accurate reproduction.
- Manufacturers and Representatives from their sales organizations; learn how to deliver the best image fidelity your products are capable of.
- Consultants, Specifiers, Purchasing Managers, Integration Company Principals, and Top Tier Sales Personnel interested in experiencing the latest generation two-piece projection products in mix-and-match, real-world scenarios with video processors and a variety of popular screen surfaces, with a first-person look at the difference calibration delivers to the end result. Many integrators have a favorite screen and projector manufacturer but have no idea how products interact without the benefit of comparison. Additionally, witnessing calibration correction first-hand, they are unaware of what adjustments techs make “by eye” actually do to image fidelity on site.
WHY ATTEND?
- In their out-of-the-box default settings, video displays are purposely under-illuminated from Energy Star regulations. Modern displays have more than 350 individual adjustments that oversee and manage visual performance; learn what parameters must be adjusted and what should be avoided.
- Learn about the differences in calibration equipment and get first-hand experience to determine which devices are best suited to your calibration intentions.
- Attain the knowledge necessary to accurately inform clients about critical design aspects and confidently explain the benefits gained from investing in a better TV or projector and how a model-down that is calibrated will outperform the model above it that is not.
- Learn how to troubleshoot EDID and HDCP issues that can prevent signals from being displayed correctly or at all. You cannot calibrate what you cannot view.
- The course earns each attendee 21 AVIXA RUs (CTS, CTS-I, and CTS-D).
- ISF certification upon completing a post-session exam (at home and at your own pace).
